Organizational Setting:
The Division of Information Technology at IAEA provides support in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. The Business Technology Coordination Section (BTCS) manages the implementation of the IAEA Business Technology Strategic Plan and coordinates the development of Agency ICT policies, standards, and guidelines.

Main Purpose:
The Data Architect leads the design and implementation of the Agency’s data and integration architecture, strategy, and governance. Reporting to the head of the Business Technology Coordination Section and the Chief Data Officer (CDO), this role involves multiple responsibilities including data architect, solution architect, data engineer, project manager, and technical specialist.

– Design, implement, and maintain a robust data architecture and infrastructure tailored for the unique challenges of the Agency.
– Optimize data pipelines to handle technical and unstructured data efficiently.
– Translate data architecture framework into actionable plans and oversee their implementation on a global scale.
– Advocate for the strategic utilization of information assets and champion efficient data utilization and exchange.
– Lead a global community of practice for data and integration, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
– Serve as a visionary business owner for visualization tools, data models, APIs, and supporting platforms.

Required Expertise:
– Strong knowledge of secure coding techniques, information security, and risk management.
– Extensive experience in managing IT projects using methodologies such as PMP or Prince2.
– Strong knowledge of Software Engineering processes and IT Solution Architecture.
– Internationally recognized certifications in Project Management, Integration, and Data Engineering.
– Minimum seven years’ relevant experience in Information Technology, with experience leading data architecture for an organization.
– Excellent oral and written command of English; knowledge of other official IAEA languages is an asset.
