Position: Policy, Partnerships, and Funding Intern

Hours: 4 days per week (full-time option available)
Funding: €50 per day

Mercy Corps is seeking a Policy, Partnerships, and Funding Intern to join their team in The Hague. The intern will work closely with various teams to engage with policies in the Netherlands and Brussels, focusing on areas such as conflict prevention, climate change adaptation, and food & water security. This internship offers an opportunity to gain insights into the policy space, advocacy processes, and external engagement techniques of an international non-governmental organization (INGO).
Responsibilities:
– Conduct policy research and analysis on key areas relevant to Mercy Corps’ mission, including climate change adaptation and humanitarian aid.
– Monitor the Dutch political landscape and key policy documents, providing summaries for strategic opportunities.
– Support advocacy efforts by organizing and coordinating external engagement events.
– Assist with administrative tasks, such as database management and communications.
Learning Objectives:
– Understand the Dutch and European policy space and learn to engage with external stakeholders effectively.
– Gain insights into policy and advocacy processes within an INGO.
– Develop planning and organizational skills in a multicultural work environment.
– Learn about INGOs’ involvement in key topical areas such as climate change, food security, and humanitarian aid.
Qualifications:
– Enrolled as a graduate student in international development, international relations, conflict studies, or related fields.
– Demonstrated interest in the intersection between conflict, climate, humanitarian aid, and food & water security.
– Familiarity with Dutch policy and development space; knowledge of EU advocacy is a plus.
– Well-organized, proactive, and communicative with strong computer literacy.
– Experience in event coordination and organization preferred.
– Native-level Dutch speaker and fluent in English.
